Easter Eggers are one of America's most popular and best-selling chicken breeds!
Easter Eggers are exceptionally friendly, very hardy and are prolific egg layers of large eggs with an assortment of egg colors including different shades of blue, green and even pink eggs! Each hen's egg color will be a mystery until you see her first eggs she lays! The hen will lay the same egg color the rest of her life and it won't change. They look like big chickens but actually have smaller bodies which makes them very heat tolerant. Their small pea combs means they won't get frost bite combs in Winter and are very cold hardy chickens.
These well known backyard chickens were created by crosses of Auaucana and Ameraucanas. The purebred Aurauanca chicken is extremely rare and is a rumpless breed with tufted ear feathers that curl upwards. The purebred Ameraucana chicken, (which we sell) has a tail, full beard and has pure color types. The Easter Egger chicken, also called Americana, Rainbow Eggers or Rainbow Egg Layers, have full beards instead of tufts on their cheeks, some have tails and some are rumpless and they do not have pure color types and come in all sorts of fun and interesting colors. Feather Lover Farms acquired their flock from the typical true Easter Eggers that the large chick hatcheries sell to ensure our customers get the true Easter Egger that lays rainbow of egg colors. We also chose chickens with a wide variety of feather color patterns, full beards and high egg production of a rainbow assortment of egg colors including blue, green and pink eggs.
Since this breed is so hardy and quite friendly, they do well with children picking them up and are just an excellent overall choice for a backyard flock if you like friendly chickens that give you lots of eggs each day. They do well confined in a small chicken coop or being raised as free range chickens. Order Easter Egger chicks from us today and guess what mystery egg colors your hens surprise you with!

Shipping: You will receive an automatic email and text message when your chicks ship along with tracking info. Chicks usually arrive in the morning 1-2 days later and your local Post Office will call you for pickup. Chicks are never delivered to your home address, even if you used a home address for your shipping address.
What I Need:Everything you need can usually be purchased at your local feed store. Chick starter feed, waterer, brooder (cardboard box, plastic storage bin, bathtub, or even a kiddie pool are popular), pine shavings, thermometer and a heat lamp or heat source. Baby chicks require heat of about 95 degrees their first week of life. Second week you can lower the temperature to 90 degrees and so on with every week going down 5 degrees until 6-8 weeks old or when they are ready to go "outside".
How Do My Chicks Survive Shipment?:Baby chicks do not need food or water for the first 72 hours of life. Ingesting their yolk sac gives them the nutrition they need to survive the journey from Feather Lover Farm's hatching facility to you! Shipping day-old chicks helps ensure a safe arrival since they will usually be just 2 days old when you receive them. Our packaging is professional with a brand new chick shipping box, nesting material and warm long lasting heat packs depending on the time of the year. Your chicks will look like they just hatched out of a nest when you open the box and jump into your arms, thinking you are their mother hen!
