Feather Lover Farms Hatchery® charges a flat fee for our Marek's Vaccination Service . Whether you order 3 chicks or 50 chicks, you only pay 1 flat fee so please only add-to-cart 1 mareks vaccine service and all of your chicks will be vaccinated.

Need to add Marek's to a pre-existing order? If you already placed a chick order and forgot to add Marek's, you can place a new order for Marek's and your original chick order will be vaccinated for Marek's as we will see and fulfill your Marek's order the day we ship your chicks. No need to contact us to add Marek's to your order. You can place the new Marek's order directly on our site and it will not charge you shipping.

Marek's vaccination must be given to baby chicks at 1 day of age for the best results which is conveniently how old they are when Feather Lover Farms ships them each week.

What is Marek's Disease?

Marek's Disease is highly contagious very common chicken disease affecting many backyard chickens in the US. It is characterized by lesions affecting the nervous system, organs, and other tissues and commonly causes paralysis and fatality in chickens. Young chickens between 2-4 months of age are the most susceptible. There is no treatment for Marek's once the birds are infected and display the symptoms. Vaccination for Marek's is not 100% guarantee that your chicks will not get Marek's or display symptoms but it is usually an effective vaccine. Chicks are vaccinated as day-olds because it gives them the best chance of building the immunity to prevent future symptoms of Marek's. Feather Lover Farms vaccinates all of our own breeding stock and strongly feel that you should do the same. Having us vaccinate your chicks for Marek's greatly reduces the chance of your chicks getting Marek's and is a responsible step in good poultry management. Don't take any chances when you order your valuable rare, exotic or show quality baby chicks from our farm. We highly recommend you purchase our vaccination service for your day-old chicks.

This was my first mail order chick delivery so I was super nervous. Especially with the post office situation, and these guys making such a long trip from California to Cleveland. But they were delivered happy and healthy in 2 days! We even have a beautiful lf lavender mystery chick that was added as an extra to keep this trio a little more warm and safe! I think she might be a lavender Wyandotte, but I am not sure. I am excited and looking forward to seeing her grow into whatever she is! For a brief moment I was a little upset because I wanted to add a few extra onto my order, but my email was not seen before my order shipped. But they gave me a discounted incentive for not responding in time, so I am excitedly anticipating my next order! Chicken math is real!

I had previously ordered some chicks from somewhere else and 8 of them died within a few days. So I was waiting to see how these did. They all arrived healthy and there were two extra non silkies. Funny story... the day after they arrived I looked at the box they came in and there was a tiny chick hollering at me. Somehow I overlooked it even though I looked carefully. I suspect it was u dear the nesting material. Even that one is thriving . Very pleased with my chicks. I highly recommend feather lovers!

Ordered 6 Silkie baby chicks, received them sooner than expected! Packaged well, hand delivered by USPS to my door step! A nice mix of colors: 3 yellow, one buff, one gray, 2 black. I receive one extra chick, but the moment I saw him, I knew something was wrong with him. He was gasping for air, did not walk well, did not want water or food. His little body looked differently than the other chicks'. I kept feeding him yolk and water with a droplet, and tried feeding him regular chick food too, and he lived for a week. He just died today. I'm sad :( I don't know why he was shipped. Maybe for additional warmth for the others? The other chicks are doing great, one of them thinks he is a woodpecker, and keeps pecking the walls of the brooder. 2 paste up a little. Fingers crossed they all make it!

I ordered 3 Silkie Bantam chicks. I received 4 silkies a week later. The time from order placed to chicks arriving was very fast. The text messages and email updates we’re great and helped us to be prepare for our chicks arrival. When we opened the box, two were alive and two didn’t make it. We were heartbroken. The two that didn’t make it were salt and pepper which made it hurt even worse because that was exactly what we were hoping for. We are very happy and in love with our two surviving Silkie’s and they are doing very well even though they’re the only two in their tiny flock. I did call and email the company and I have not heard back at this time.

Initially I was impressed as I received quick responses when I sent an email. Then when our chicks finally arrived 3 weeks later, one of them did not make it. The other 3 appear healthy and happy. I am disappointed i received all of the same color and when I emailed the company about the chick that did not make it, I never received a response back. It has been a week since the email was sent. I do love the 3 chicks that made it and they are beautiful silkies.

Great experience We ordered a straight run of silkies and they were perfect when we got them. Unfortunately we lost one the first night so I ordered 2 more to replace it. Bet order I ordered 3 chickens but there was a hold up on egg production so they were a little late but I didn’t mind at all. 2 extra chickens were sent which was great. One of the originally ordered and one of the free chickens died so I went from 5 to 3 babies. This was not Feather Lover Farms fault. Sometimes stuff like that happens. I want new people in the hobby to realize that sometimes nature takes its course early and it’s not your or the providers fault. This is the best site to go with for ordering chicks. Thanks so much!
