The rarest and most sought after chicken breed on the planet, the famous black Ayam Cemani chicken! Our Feather Lover Farms Line Ayam Cemani we offer were first released to the public in early 2017. Ayam Cemani originate in Indonesia and are known to have black feathers, black skin, black comb and wattles, black flesh, black organs, black bones and all. This makes this breed one of the most beautiful chickens on the planet, hailing them as "The Lamborghini of Poultry."
In Indonesia, the black chicken is known for their mystical healing powers due to their black hyper-pigmentation. The hens lay a surprisingly abundant amount of eggs, 80-120 eggs each year. Their eggs are unusually large proportion compared to the hen's body, making them a low feed cost breed with excellent egg laying capability. The birds pictured here are our breeding stock and were selected from many Ayam Cemani birds for their exceptionally black features. However, it is important to understand that not all Ayam Cemani offspring grow up to be solid black, even with solid black parents. We cannot guarantee the distribution of black pigment in the offspring you receive as each chick will turn out different.
Ayam Cemani are usually cold & hot weather hardy, low maintenance, tame and easy to handle.
Not only is our Feather Lover Farms Ayam Cemani bloodline consistently darker than our old bloodline, they seem to be larger, stand taller and have bigger combs.

Quick Chick FAQs:
Straight Run Chicks: Straight Run Chicks are un-sexed, randomly selected and each chick has a 50/50 chance of being a male or female.
Shipping: You will receive an automatic email and text message when your chicks ship along with tracking info. Chicks usually arrive in the morning 1-2 days later and your local Post Office will call you for pickup. Chicks are never delivered to your home address, even if you used a home address for your shipping address.
What I Need: Everything you need can usually be purchased at your local feed store. Chick starter feed, waterer, brooder (cardboard box, plastic storage bin, bathtub, or even a kiddie pool are popular), pine shavings, thermometer and a heat lamp or heat source. Baby chicks require heat of about 95 degrees their first week of life. Second week you can lower the temperature to 90 degrees and so on with every week going down 5 degrees until 6-8 weeks old or when they are ready to go "outside".
How Do My Chicks Survive Shipment?: Baby chicks do not need food or water for the first 72 hours of life. Ingesting their yolk sac gives them the nutrition they need to survive the journey from Feather Lover Farm's hatching facility to you! Shipping day-old chicks helps ensure a safe arrival since they will usually be just 2 days old when you receive them. Our packaging is professional with a brand new chick shipping box, nesting material and warm long lasting heat packs depending on the time of the year. Your chicks will look like they just hatched out of a nest when you open the box and jump into your arms, thinking you are their mother hen!

Great experience ordering and birds arrived live and well for shipping to WI in the cold. The quality isn't what I thought I was paying for, they lack fibro and plightly gray tongues and white/pink in the mouth on one of them. Not to the standard I would expect for the price I paid, nor the pics of the parents. They sent 5 chicks but unfortunately we lost one right away and despite our best effort, lost another a day later. We ended up with 3 healthy and beautiful chicks. Get the flf bloodline they is very smart chicks and learn how to eat they food and drink they water; they even learn to do the chicken scratch on they own. These chicks are easy to handle and with just a little handling they calm down and are not giddish.

Our Ayam Cemani Chicks arrived this morning. We had below freezing temps last night. My friend at the post office opened up early so I could get my chicks, sadly 1 did not survive the trip and another was close to dying. We put it in our (CHICK-U) and after a few hours it was up and going pretty good. As you can see in the video they are all running around today. FLF sent 3 extra chicks for body heat, I think my daughter in law is more excited about those 3 than the AC chicks. Good job FLF on this order.

I placed a order for six chicks. 2 Ayam Cemani - 2 Silverrudd blue Isbar - 2 Lavender Olive Eggers. I think it was Dec. 2nd. The Olive Eggers will not be available until later, so I was told they would ship the entire order in Jan. To my surprise and delight they went ahead and shipped a partial order in Dec. I received it the morning of the 22nd. They actually sent a couple extra chicks. One of the chicks was dead on arrival. I think it was one of the Isbar. However, I am writing this on 1-1-23 and the rest of the chick are thriving. Thank you so much to the people at Feather lover farms. After TWO delayed failed shipments of chicks by mail, this third batch finally made it ok. My story began 12/6/20. I researched everything possible about breeds, breeders, feed, proper use of DE, pasty butt, coop recuperation, deep bedding vs non, fermenting feed vs not...name it...I've researched it. I have seen extensive reviews about FLF. From amazing to the opposite end. I'm not the easiest customer as I'm particular and require a good bit of attention with my purchases. That said, I'm fair-minded and when I'm happy I am over the moon. There was zero pressure to tell my journey, and now I feel compelled to share my FLF journey. FLF is amazing! The breeds are bespoke. I probably have some of 80 percent of what they offer. The health of the birds are unparalleled. The work you all put into sending, replacing if necessary, communicating, offering tips/emotional support if needed and follow up is astonishing. Today I received my pullet, she is gorgeous. She is letting all others know she's in charge. Her only problem is that it's I whose in charge so she is slightly punished after her first few hours but I think she finds me just as tenacious. I started with a varied flock, moved them shortly to a long brooder I created within the coop. As they grew, I moved larger below abs left smaller above abs mixed my smaller with newbies. The only ones not featured here are my silkies (2) and newbies (3) which I plan to move down after my pullet adjust her attitude . I feed Miles Four, omega, pumpkin, Browns Herb treats, Treats for Chickens (cluck yea and chicken crack), uncle Jim's and Honest mealworms, coconut, black oil sunflower seeds and I use coop recuperate along with plain food-grade DE. I'm just beginning their dust bath with about 10 died herbs, sand, peat moss and DE. I am T-totally in love with my flock and I couldn't be happier with FLF for bringing so much joy to my life.

After having these Ayam Cemani chicks on my wishlist for a few years now, I finally took the plunge and purchased three of them in August. My experience has been great from start to finish, with FLF upgrading my shipping to overnight even when I hadn't paid for it as by the time my chicks shipped, this was in the midst of massive USPS delays that had not been happening when I placed my initial preorder. The chicks arrived packaged well and safe, although unfortunately one did seem to be a bit lethargic. A few days later, this chick passed, and despite this being devastating FLF worked with me and made the experience much less stressful. I was provided with a replacement juvenile bird which was more than I could have ever expected or hoped for, and this is the bird pictured here!
As for the birds themselves, they are gorgeous. I have had a pair of Cemanis before purchasing these (unknown bloodlines as I hadn't asked when I obtained them because I was clueless at the time), and despite them both being quality looking birds, I have never hatched a completely solid black chick from them. Most have had white toes or toenails of some sort. Even though these tend to grow out and darken up as they grow, you can still see remnants of white in the nails of some of their older offspring. The chicks from FLF were dark from the very beginning, being the only chicks I've personally had that are solid black from head to toenail, and they've continued to grow up to be absolutely stunning. I can't wait to purchase more in the future and hopefully add more to my flock next spring.

I picked my birds up from the post office June 25th. One of them was a bit wobbly, slower than the other two, and has since died. I have not come to any conclusions as to cause of death, that being said, I do plan to place a future order. Great experience ordering and birds arrived live and well for shipping to WI in the cold. The quality isn't what I thought I was paying for, they lack fibro and plightly gray tongues and white/pink in the mouth on one of them. Not to the standard I would expect for the price I paid, nor the pics of the parents. I was hoping for breeding stock but looks like I'll wait til later thus year when I can get the birds I want from better bred birds.

They sent 5 chicks but unfortunately we lost one right away and despite our best effort, lost another a day later. We ended up with 3 healthy and beautiful chicks. Even though I didn't ask for one They gave me a credit the the chick that we ordered but didn't make it, even though it was the post offices fault. Get the flf bloodline they is very smart chicks and learn how to eat they food and drink they water; they even learn to do the chicken scratch on they own. These chicks are easy to handle and with just a little handling they calm down and are not giddish.

Our Ayam Cemani Chicks arrived this morning. We had below freezing temps last night. My friend at the post office opened up early so I could get my chicks, sadly 1 did not survive the trip and another was close to dying. We put it in our (CHICK-U) and after a few hours it was up and going pretty good. As you can see in the video they are all running around today. FLF sent 3 extra chicks for body heat, I think my daughter in law is more excited about those 3 than the AC chicks. Good job FLF on this order.

I placed a order for six chicks. 2 Ayam Cemani - 2 Silverrudd blue Isbar - 2 Lavender Olive Eggers. I think it was Dec. 2nd. The Olive Eggers will not be available until later, so I was told they would ship the entire order in Jan. To my surprise and delight they went ahead and shipped a partial order in Dec. I received it the morning of the 22nd. They actually sent a couple extra chicks. One of the chicks was dead on arrival. I think it was one of the Isbar. However, I am writing this on 1-1-23 and the rest of the chick are thriving. Thank you so much to the people at Feather lover farms. They shipped my order of 7 Ayam Cemani chicks and notified me they were due to arrive on Thursday the 27th from Northern California to Woodruff, South Carolina. I live in Arkansas and chicks were coming from California. Day 1 with the chicks seem ok. All were alive and very active after getting some food and water. After TWO delayed failed shipments of chicks by mail, this third batch finally made it ok. My story began 12/6/20. I researched everything possible about breeds, breeders, feed, proper use of DE, pasty butt, coop recuperation, deep bedding vs non, fermenting feed vs not...name it...I've researched it. I have seen extensive reviews about FLF. From amazing to the opposite end. I'm not the easiest customer as I'm particular and require a good bit of attention with my purchases. That said, I'm fair-minded and when I'm happy I am over the moon. There was zero pressure to tell my journey, and now I feel compelled to share my FLF journey. FLF is amazing! The breeds are bespoke. I probably have some of 80 percent of what they offer. The health of the birds are unparalleled. The work you all put into sending, replacing if necessary, communicating, offering tips/emotional support if needed and follow up is astonishing. Today I received my pullet, she is gorgeous. She is letting all others know she's in charge. Her only problem is that it's I whose in charge so she is slightly punished after her first few hours but I think she finds me just as tenacious. I started with a varied flock, moved them shortly to a long brooder I created within the coop. As they grew, I moved larger below abs left smaller above abs mixed my smaller with newbies. The only ones not featured here are my silkies (2) and newbies (3) which I plan to move down after my pullet adjust her attitude . I feed Miles Four, omega, pumpkin, Browns Herb treats, Treats for Chickens (cluck yea and chicken crack), uncle Jim's and Honest mealworms, coconut, black oil sunflower seeds and I use coop recuperate along with plain food-grade DE. I'm just beginning their dust bath with about 10 died herbs, sand, peat moss and DE. I am T-totally in love with my flock and I couldn't be happier with FLF for bringing so much joy to my life.

After having these Ayam Cemani chicks on my wishlist for a few years now, I finally took the plunge and purchased three of them in August. My experience has been great from start to finish, with FLF upgrading my shipping to overnight even when I hadn't paid for it as by the time my chicks shipped, this was in the midst of massive USPS delays that had not been happening when I placed my initial preorder. The chicks arrived packaged well and safe, although unfortunately one did seem to be a bit lethargic. A few days later, this chick passed, and despite this being devastating FLF worked with me and made the experience much less stressful. I was provided with a replacement juvenile bird which was more than I could have ever expected or hoped for, and this is the bird pictured here!
As for the birds themselves, they are gorgeous. I have had a pair of Cemanis before purchasing these (unknown bloodlines as I hadn't asked when I obtained them because I was clueless at the time), and despite them both being quality looking birds, I have never hatched a completely solid black chick from them. Most have had white toes or toenails of some sort. Even though these tend to grow out and darken up as they grow, you can still see remnants of white in the nails of some of their older offspring. The chicks from FLF were dark from the very beginning, being the only chicks I've personally had that are solid black from head to toenail, and they've continued to grow up to be absolutely stunning. I can't wait to purchase more in the future and hopefully add more to my flock next spring.

One of the chicks in my first order unfortunately did not survive shipping, however, because I followed the live chick guarantee policy, Feather Lover Farms was able to work with me on replacements! All of my chicks are happy, healthy and look great! I’m so excited to watch them grow. Feather Lover Farms was also very helpful throughout the ordering process. They were there to answer all of my questions and responded fast, too. I definitely recommend ordering from them and plan to be a future customer again myself.

I am just going to say that I ordered five Ayam Cemani's from you which were delivered in February. I wanted five from you and five from Greenfire to have to separate blood lines so I could breed on the farm. I was more impressed with your packing/shipping. Your communications with me. Your final product. All five are doing great and I will be sharing pictures soon. They look very healthly and no bleed through. Ordered both the Greenfire Farms line and Feather Lover Farms Line. The FLF line came leg banded and look amazing. They aren’t just darker, they look more wild and different than the gff line and I’m excited to see how they all turn out. All chicks look great and I can’t wait to watch them all grow up to adults. If you don’t own Ayam Cemani I highly reccomend this company. If you already own the gff Ayam Cemani line I reccomend buying the FLF line. Thanks FLF!
