Feather Lover Farms is proud to be the first baby chick hatchery that we know of to offer day-old Malaysian Serama chicks for sale that ship safely to your local Post Office!
Our adult breeding stock consist of hand selected Malaysian Seramas from show winning blood lines and they come in the highly sought after 3 small sizes. Micro, Type A and Type B size breeding chart. Though our adult stock was mostly hand selected for show quality stock, we can not guarantee the chicks you receive will turn out to be show quality like many of their parents.
Seramas are by far one of the most gorgeous chickens on the planet and their chicks are "TINY" and so adorable. They are the smallest recognized chicken breed on the planet. We have been acquiring unrelated adult Serama chickens from only premier exhibition show quality stock, with many of our adult Serama breeders being actual direct offspring from show winning Seramas. All of our breeders are mostly unrelated and being from quality show lines, you may end up with some blue ribbon winners from your Serama chicks from us!
Serama chickens come in a wide variety of colors and their colors do not always breed true. Meaning if both parents are the same color you may still get offspring to hatch out a totally different color! Our flock comes in all sorts of beautiful colors and almost all of our Serama breeders are considered the smooth feather type, however, it is still possible that a few of our Serama chicks for sale can hatch out silkied or frizzled feather types as we do have a very small percentage of adult breeders that are frizzled Seramas. They are also known for their upright chest out posture, vertical wings pointing straight down usually touching the floor, short little legs and tall vertical tails giving them a look like no other chicken.
In exhibition poultry shows, our Serama adult breeders are considered the Micro, A and B type weight classes which are very small and preferred by most Serama breeders. Serama weight classes are used for exhibition poultry shows and we made an easy chart below of the size comparison for you to be able to see what your Serama chicks from us grow up to be! Type A and Micro are the smallest ones and are harder to breed and successfully hatch. If you want to hatch your own chicks, type B and C are larger and are easier breed and hatch eggs from. It is also interesting that Seramas do not breed true in size. Even 2 larger Parents of the C class type can produce offspring that only grow to the Mico or A class type. The same goes for the small parents. Sometimes smaller A and micro Serama parents can still produce offspring that grow up larger to the type B and C size chart.
Table Top Competitions are very common at Serama poultry shows. This is when a Serama chicken is place on a table and displays to the judges and crowd their upright cocky posture with their head high, chest out, wings straight down touching the floor and tail straight up. This is one of the most exciting parts of the Serama shows and is where Feather Lover Farms chose some of our breeders due to being so impressed with the Serama Table Top Competitions.
Believe it or not, though it may take you a dozen Serama eggs to make small omelette, they are fantastic layers of tiny cream colored eggs all year long. They start laying as soon as 4-5 months old and LOVE to be broody and hatch and raise their own chicks for you. It should also be noted that Serama roosters rarely seem to fight. Many times you can keep a bunch of males in the same pen without any issues and they also do not hardly crow.
Serama chicks tend to hatch 1 or 2 days sooner than a normal chicken. Feather Lover Farms incubates their Serama eggs 1 day sooner than our other larger chicken breeds so they all hatch on the same day ready to be shipped out to their new loving homes every week. We successfully ship your Serama chicks across the country with warm 72 hour heat packs, plenty of chick nesting material under and around the chicks and extra filler chicks if need be to ensure a warm and safe arrival.
Lastly, Serama chickens do not require much space at all. Same small coop requirements to small bantam chickens or bantams. Many Serama breeders use a mini chicken coop or rabbit hutch like the ones we sell which works perfect for them. They do not create hardly any mess in their little coop and hardly eat any chicken feed at all. They are extremely tame and friendly and will likely be your new favorite backyard chickens in your flock!

Quick Chick FAQs:
Straight Run Chicks: Straight Run Chicks are un-sexed, randomly selected and each chick has a 50/50 chance of being a male or female.
Shipping: You will receive an automatic email and text message when your chicks ship along with tracking info. Chicks usually arrive in the morning 1-2 days later and your local Post Office will call you for pickup. Chicks are never delivered to your home address, even if you used a home address for your shipping address.
What I Need: Everything you need can usually be purchased at your local feed store. Chick starter feed, waterer, brooder (cardboard box, plastic storage bin, bathtub, or even a kiddie pool are popular), pine shavings, thermometer and a heat lamp or heat source. Baby chicks require heat of about 95 degrees their first week of life. Second week you can lower the temperature to 90 degrees and so on with every week going down 5 degrees until 6-8 weeks old or when they are ready to go "outside".
How Do My Chicks Survive Shipment?: Baby chicks do not need food or water for the first 72 hours of life. Ingesting their yolk sac gives them the nutrition they need to survive the journey from Feather Lover Farm's hatching facility to you! Shipping day-old chicks helps ensure a safe arrival since they will usually be just 2 days old when you receive them. Our packaging is professional with a brand new chick shipping box, nesting material and warm long lasting heat packs depending on the time of the year. Your chicks will look like they just hatched out of a nest when you open the box and jump into your arms, thinking you are their mother hen!

Ordered 2 Silkie but they ran out so they subbed a Serama! Not a bad trade at all, but will definitely order more Silkie. My Silkie chick is pretty much textbook perfect. These chicks are nearly two weeks old. And though they are tiny, they develop very fast. Their wing feathers nearly touch the ground and they hold them in a position like the adults. I had hoped they would be friendlier, but I suppose to creature so small, all other living things must seem like devouring giants.

I ordered and received three Serama chicks plus a free standard sized mystery chick. I was sent three different color serama chicks, a white one, a light chipmunk colored one and a black one. I appreciated the variety in colors. Unfortunately, the post office was very late delivering my chicks and only the little black one survived the trip. The chicks were sent with two heat packs and the packaging was great but they just couldn’t survive the delay. It’s honestly a miracle the one chick survived but it is healthy and very lively. I have emailed feather lovers farms regarding the chicks that didn’t make it and am just waiting for them try to get a chance to reply.

The seramas are beautiful, sweet, and friendly. Love them! Unfortunately I did have to take advantage of the live arrival guarantee, but day old seramas are so fragile that very few people ship them at all, so it’s not surprising. That was the only downside of the purchase was poor communication with seller. Chicks arrived May 15th and the post office called me first thing. I picked them up at 8:30 AM. Packing tape covered the holes but there were corner openings. The post office popped holes through the tape. She told me then they started peeping. So far two have died. A third isn’t eating. I am hoping the remaining three will make it. There was a 7th chick, not a serama. He’s getting big fast. The serama chicks are much more fragile.

Happy with the chicks! Order took a few weeks to ship which was tough because my wife and I were so excited to get them but they sent an extra to make up for the long wait. Our Malaysian Serama is about the cutest thing ever! This baby, along with some others are the first mail order chicks we have purchased. We live in Arkansas, so they had to travel a LONG way. When I picked them up they were chirping and very alert, after a two day ride! They are so adorable and seem VERY healthy. We can’t wait to see what our Serama turns out to look like! Just got them home. I was very concerned because it took 3 days for them to get here. Went to the post office as soon as they opened this morning and I could hear them before they handed me the box. (Small post office). It was a wonderful sound! Five Seramas and an extra that looks like it could be a silkie! (Thank you FLF). The little all black feathered chick isn’t acting like he’s feeling well and I’m hoping he will be ok. All the others seem to be fine. Beautiful chicks!

They were actually an after thought, but I emailed the farm and they added them to the order with no problem saving me a second shipping fee. They all arrived in the shipping month I selected. So lucky to get an adorable *frizzled Serama* (that we named Toffee). Toffee is already so quirky and cute. I’m in love with my little frizzle! All of the Seramas we have purchased from FLF are fantastic. Super tiny, yet somehow they still manage to hold their own in the pen, even against much larger silkies. They made it from California to NY without any issue, all chicks arrived alive and in good health! I love the variety of colors we received— No two are alike. We are so thrilled with this company! Babies arrived healthy and happy. We had been previously traumatized by another hatchery mail experience and were nervous to do it again but FLF is aces in quality and service. We ordered 3 seramas and were pleasantly surprised to receive 4 seramas and an americauna packing peanut . Love the minis and our little extra peanut is a doll. Really pleased a full size breed baby came with them because she likely added to the travel comfort with additional warmth although their packaging was impeccable as is. The babies arrived on a day that temps outside were -5 but it didn’t effect the health or welfare of the chicks. Will order again without hesitation .

These little ones arrived doing well. I drove to the regional distribution center in Knoxville to pick them up after tracking the package. Glad I did, otherwise it would of been another day until delivery to my post office. One Serama chick had somehow gotten under the packing material and seems quite a bit weaker than the others and may not of survived another day. The three extra chicks are a welcome surprise. Best shipping I’ve seen yet and I have ordered from quite a few! Chicks felt nice and toasty. Did unfortunately lose 1 tiny Serama but really hard not to lose at least one from California to Georgia. Ordered 2 Silkie but they ran out so they subbed a Serama! Not a bad trade at all, but will definitely order more Silkie. My Silkie chick is pretty much textbook perfect. VERY excited to watch them grow up. Also got 4 surprise chicks which we think are Biefelder, Black Copper Marans, and maybe a Cemani. Just have to wait til they grow to be sure! The chicks are exactly one weeks at the time of this post and they are healthy and happy. I am very pleased.

These chicks are nearly two weeks old. And though they are tiny, they develop very fast. Their wing feathers nearly touch the ground and they hold them in a position like the adults. I had hoped they would be friendlier, but I suppose to creature so small, all other living things must seem like devouring giants.

Received my two replacement chicks earlier than expected. My first order was held up at the post office and only one chick made it. They sent two different color chicks and included three free polish chicks. All of them are so cute and doing well. The older chick from our first order is a beautiful black pullet and meets the breed standard very well so far. She is friendly and has been very healthy.

This is my fourth order with FLF. I am not sure if this picture shows it but my new babies are stunning. FLF surpassed my expectations! Each Serama chick was precisely selected so that I have an array of colors. They are doing great from their journey from the west coast to the east coast. My husband said that I was in love with them in the first five minutes. It actually didn’t take that long! I have had an opportunity to work with multiple hatcheries and FLF tops all of them. Their chickens are noticeably higher quality than chickens from other hatcheries. Thank you FLF. You put a big smile on my face.

Here are my newest baby chicks. This is my second order with Feather Love Farms. I was as excited to receive the order as I was the first time around. FLF did not disappoint, my chick are so sweet. They sent two extra but, unfortunately, two died within 12 hours of receiving them. Nevertheless, I feel like this is more like a hatchery boutique. I ordered and received three Serama chicks plus a free standard sized mystery chick. I was sent three different color serama chicks, a white one, a light chipmunk colored one and a black one. I appreciated the variety in colors. Unfortunately, the post office was very late delivering my chicks and only the little black one survived the trip. The chicks were sent with two heat packs and the packaging was great but they just couldn’t survive the delay. It’s honestly a miracle the one chick survived but it is healthy and very lively. I have emailed feather lovers farms regarding the chicks that didn’t make it and am just waiting for them try to get a chance to reply.

They did include a bonus chick, I’m not sure of the breed yet of that one. We placed them in with other chicks we just got a couple days prior from and they are getting along very well. The seramas are beautiful, sweet, and friendly. Love them! Unfortunately I did have to take advantage of the live arrival guarantee, but day old seramas are so fragile that very few people ship them at all, so it’s not surprising. They were great about sending me a new chick, and the two chicks I ordered to be the replacement’s companions are doing great as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from this company again.

They are all very healthy. I have to give credit to the Post Office and my local delivery guy was very concerned, immediately notified me that they were here. I'm very glad I got a heating plate for chicks. They love it and can be adjusted to have one side higher for large and small chicks. Glad I ordered the chicks from this company. USPS didn't make me drive to the post office so they sent a courier to my house with the chicks. All alive, one lookimg rather lathargic. She died in the middle of the night on the second evening due to assumed complications with pasty butt
Here's my biggest gripe and it is not related to. the above issues but the CUSTOMER SERVICE or lack their of. I sent many emails with questions that most likely would have increased their sales. But they have NEVER responded to a single email I've sent in the past 1.5 months

I have not purchase live animals online so was very nervous when I did not hear from them when chic's were later than expected. That was the only downside of the purchase was poor communication with seller. They explained how busy there were however very put out response came when I inquired after 6 weeks without a word and late. I do recommend the babies however. The kids that were waiting are thrilled with the little group of 5.

Chicks arrived May 15th and the post office called me first thing. I picked them up at 8:30 AM. Packing tape covered the holes but there were corner openings. The post office popped holes through the tape. She told me then they started peeping. So far two have died. A third isn’t eating. I am hoping the remaining three will make it. There was a 7th chick, not a serama. He’s getting big fast. The serama chicks are much more fragile.
