Description:

Finally, the true Lavender (Self Blue) Ameraucana chickens are here!

Don't be confused with chick hatcheries selling Easter Eggers, Araucana, Americana or Ameraucana. These are a truly rare purebred chickens from show quality breeding stock and almost impossible to find! Feather Lover Farms has been accumulating Lavender Ameraucana chickens from multiple unrelated bloodlines for only show quality stock and chicks are finally available to order!
The Ameraucana chicken is one of the most popular chickens in the world. They lay a ton of bright blue eggs and have a sweet and friendly temperament. They do well free ranging or confined and are cold and hot weather hardy chickens. They have a pea comb which makes them less susceptible to frostbite compared to chickens with large single combs. They also have tufted ear muffs that gives them a puffy face and bearded neck.

Lavender colored chickens are a new fab happening lately in the backyard chicken industry and Lavender Ameraucanas are one of the newest and hardest Lavender chickens to find of great quality. Our Lavender Ameraucana chickens were selectively chosen particularly for the hens with the most beautful soft lavender colors and the roosters with no yellowing in their back and neck. Yellowing in the male Lavender chickens is common but our males have none at all and are pure Lavender color head to tail. Though our adult stock was hand selected for show quality, we can not guarantee the chicks you receive will turn out to be show quality like their parents.

Though not "yet" an accepted color variety by the APA, they are one of the most popular and sought after varieties. The Ameraucana chicken was created in America in the 1970's and the breed was accepted by the APA as a standard breed in 1984. The accepted color varieties by the APA are Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten and White. In 2016, the American Poultry Association (APA) potitined that the Lavender Ameraucana chicken be an accepted color variety of Ameraucana chickens. Though the Lavender color is not yet a recognized breed by the APA, for those of you that show your chickens at poultry exhibition  shows, these are show quality stock and the APA should hopefully be accepting this breed very soon. Now is the time to get ahold of this rare show quality stock in preparation for when the APA accepts this beautful color variety.

Do not miss your chance to own the incredibly rare Lavender Ameraucana chicken! These are not hatchery stock chickens. These are hard to find Lavender chickens and they are the "Real Deal" and hand selected for true show quality genetics. Truly one of the most stunning flock of Lavender chickens you'll ever see free ranging in your yard. Order your baby chicks before it's too late!

Shipping: You will receive an automatic email and text message when your chicks ship along with tracking info. Chicks usually arrive in the morning 1-2 days later and your local Post Office will call you for pickup. Chicks are never delivered to your home address, even if you used a home address for your shipping address.

What I Need: Everything you need can usually be purchased at your local feed store. Chick starter feed, waterer, brooder (cardboard box, plastic storage bin, bathtub, or even a kiddie pool are popular), pine shavings, thermometer and a heat lamp or heat source. Baby chicks require heat of about 95 degrees their first week of life. Second week you can lower the temperature to 90 degrees and so on with every week going down 5 degrees until 6-8 weeks old or when they are ready to go "outside".

How Do My Chicks Survive Shipment?: Baby chicks do not need food or water for the first 72 hours of life. Ingesting their yolk sac gives them the nutrition they need to survive the journey from Feather Lover Farm's hatching facility to you! Shipping day-old chicks helps ensure a safe arrival since they will usually be just 2 days old when you receive them. Our packaging is professional with a brand new chick shipping box, nesting material and warm long lasting heat packs depending on the time of the year. Your chicks will look like they just hatched out of a nest when you open the box and jump into your arms, thinking you are their mother hen!
