New for 2020, our brand new flock of tiny show quality Lavender Cochin bantams!
These little chickens are the most adorable fluff of feathers you've ever seen! We acquired our stock from multiple top of the line breeders who show these birds all over the country and our breeding stock are directly related to birds who have won many poultry show competitions. These have the sweetest personality you can ask for in a chicken and love human attention.
Cochins are originally a Chinese breed and were actually a gift to Queen Victoria of England in the 1800's. England soldiers returning from China brought the first bantam Cochins to England around the 1860's. Their original name was called Pekin bantams and are still referred to as "Pekin bantams" or "Pekins" in many parts of Europe. The bantams are a round ball of fluff with heavily feather shanks and toes and though the bantams already look tiny, they are even smaller than they look. They are friendly and tend to get along well with other chickens. They also do not require much space if you do not have a large coop. They come in many color varieties but the Lavender color is by far the color that stands out the most. Bantam Cochins are the most popular of feather legged bantam chickens and tend to be great mothers if you let them brood their nest of eggs.
Genetically bred for excellent color, type and lots of feathers on their feet, these little chickens stand out in any backyard chicken coop. Our Lavender Cochin bantam chicks for sale are sure to arrive at many customer post offices for pickup this chick season.

Shipping: You will receive an automatic email and text message when your chicks ship along with tracking info. Chicks usually arrive in the morning 1-2 days later and your local Post Office will call you for pickup. Chicks are never delivered to your home address, even if you used a home address for your shipping address.
What I Need:Everything you need can usually be purchased at your local feed store. Chick starter feed, waterer, brooder (cardboard box, plastic storage bin, bathtub, or even a kiddie pool are popular), pine shavings, thermometer and a heat lamp or heat source. Baby chicks require heat of about 95 degrees their first week of life. Second week you can lower the temperature to 90 degrees and so on with every week going down 5 degrees until 6-8 weeks old or when they are ready to go "outside".
How Do My Chicks Survive Shipment?:Baby chicks do not need food or water for the first 72 hours of life. Ingesting their yolk sac gives them the nutrition they need to survive the journey from Feather Lover Farm's hatching facility to you! Shipping day-old chicks helps ensure a safe arrival since they will usually be just 2 days old when you receive them. Our packaging is professional with a brand new chick shipping box, nesting material and warm long lasting heat packs depending on the time of the year. Your chicks will look like they just hatched out of a nest when you open the box and jump into your arms, thinking you are their mother hen!
